School Council

At the beginning of the year, each class holds an election to vote for their school councillors. Each class has two representatives who receive a special badge so everyone knows who they are.

We have regular meetings to discuss and make decisions on important aspects of school development. The school councillors gather information from their class and report back to the meeting. School Council is one way of ensuring we hear the pupil voice when developing our school.

This academic year our school councillors have worked incredibly hard to represent the children in all years of the school on a variety of important matters at Little Leigh Primary! Here are a few of the things they have achieved so far:

- Introduced themselves to all of the children in the school during an assembly
- Met with the governing body to introduce themselves and find out who the governors are!
- Took part in a healthy packed lunch workshop
- Carried out a questionnaire on healthy eating in each class
- Attended a democracy event at J.H.Goodwin school in Chester, debating whether Britain should remain or leave the EU
- Distributed £50 of FOLLS money to each year group, ensuring that each class used it wisely!
- Created and implemented: 'reading raffle tickets.' The councillors decided to use some of the FOLLS money to purchase half termly book prizes, in order to encourage children to read at home to an adult more regularly.
- Discussed the areas they felt need improving in school, such as: the playground, the school rules as well as behaviour.
